        Producer Information

Trapiche is one of the largest wine producers in Argentina. It producers a diverse portfolio of wines sourced from estate vineyards as well as contract growers scattered throughout Mendoza. The line-up covers all of the major grape varieties grown in Argentina. Most production is devoted to Malbec and Cabernet Sauvignon on the red side, and Chardonnay, Sauvignon Blanc and Torronts on the white. Trapiche has around a dozen different wine ranges, led by the Iscay – a duo of Malbec with Cabernet Franc and a Syrah-dominant blend with Viognier. Both of these wines are barrel-aged in French oak for up to 18 months prior to bottling. The Trapiche Oak Cask tier is composed of varietal Malbec, Cabernet Sauvignon and Chardonnay amoungst others, all barrel-aged for nine months. The entire collection is sourced from vineyards over 2500 feet (762 meters) in elevation. Other notable ranges include the Terroir Series of Malbec and Cabernet Sauvignon and the Medalla – a range of old-vineyard wines first prodiced in 1983 on the 100th anniversary of the winery. The company’s historty began in 1883 in a small vineyard called el Trapiche in Godoy Cruz, Mendoza. Over the years, Trapiche has been a pioneer in multiple facets of the Argentian wine industry. This has included involvement in the introduction of French vines, the production of varietal wines, the import of French oak barrels and the use of stainless steel tanks. It was also a pioneer on the international market, winning its first award in Paris in 1889.
