Hine is renowned for having been one of the first cognac houses to start making such rarities as vintage cognac available to discerning drinkers worldwide, and at the beginning of the 19th century it started to ship cognac in cask to British connoisseurs. To this day, each vintage year, a small number of casks are sent to Bristol to mature in the house’s chalk cellars for a minimum of 20 years, and it is these casks that are referred to as early-landed. The conditions for aging the cognac in England make for a more delicate, refined drink than the equivalent casks aged in France, displaying light floral and fruity aromas with subtle hints of wood. The vintage cognacs from Hine are produced exclusively from the Grande Champagne; vineyards designated as the highest quality in the region.
