This joven mezcal from the Picaflor range is made using 100% Espadin agave. There’s a pretty dope looking tattooed bird man on the label, having a nibble on some agave flowers; it turns out the hummingbird is integral to the pollination of the agave plant! Hence, y’know, the bird we just described.

Nose: As a result it has a truly unique flavour profile.

Palate: earthy and almost medicinal tasting, with sweet, fresh cut grass on the first taste.

Finish: More intense, mineral finish.

Distillery Information

Picaflor Mezcal is a project from Enmezcalarte, a group of Mexican importers who import high-end Mexican spirits into Spain. The group started the Picaflor project and brand to import products from small distillers from Oaxaca, for sale and distribution in Europe. Picaflor means hummingbird, a bird that mainly feeds on agave nectar in Oaxaca. The brand was founded in 2012 to work with traditional producers.
