Distillery Information
Jean Martell, a young Jersey merchant established his own trading company in Gatebourse, Cognac, on the Charente River, and thus founded one of the first cognac houses. Martell used grapes from vineyards in the Borderie subregion and used Tronais oak for its casks, resulting in a cognac that was exceptionally smooth.
