The Quinta das Quartas farm was the first to be acquired by Manoel Poas Jnior. here there are 2.5 hectares (6.2 acres) of vines as well as a large onsite cellar to age the wines. Quinta Sta Barbara comprises of 33 hectares (81.5 acres) and is responsible for top Vintage and LBV Ports. The Vale de Cavalos farm was was purchased in 1988 and has 51 hectares (126 acres) under vine divided into various plots. The company was founded in 1918 by Manoel Domingues Poas Jnior. In partnership with his uncle, Poas set up a company specialising in selling brandies to various Port producers. The company’s head office was set up in Vila Nova de Gaia where it remains today and still operates as a family-owned business.
