Producer Information
Jacob’s Creek is an Australian wine producer with a large portolio spanning several regions and grape varieties. Based in the Barossa Valley, it is best known for its good-value wines made from classic Australian varieties like Shiraz and Cabernet Sauvignon. The wine portfolio is a wide range under several titles that are exported to over 60 countries. The Reserve range, introduced in 2000, features varietal wines made from Shiraz, Merlot, Cabernet Sauvignon, Pinot Noir, Chardonnay and Riesling. The core Classic collection includes a range of varietal wines, along with Grenache Shiraz and Shiraz Cabernet blends. The company also produces a wide range of sparkling wines from the Champagne varieties, Sauvignon Blanc and Glera. While the company is best known for its everyday wines, the extensive line-up is led by a range of deluxe cuves, many of which pre-date the formation of the Jacob’s Creek brand. These include the Steingarten Riesling from Eden Valley, the Johann Shiraz Cabernet blend, the Centenary Hill Barossa Shiraz and the Double Barrel Coonawarra Cabernet Sauvignon. Grapes are sourced from both estate-owned vineyards and external growers from multiple regions of South Australia, predominately the Coonawarra, Adelaide Hills and Barossa Valley. The company Gramp & Sons was established in 1847 when Bavarian immigrant Johann Gramp planted vines along the banks of Jacob’s Creek. The first wines were made in 1850 under the Orlando Wines title, but the Jacob’s Creek name didn’t appear on a bottle until 1976. Today, the brand is owned and managed by global drinks company Pernod Ricard.
