        Reviews:

        • Wine Advocate: Based on the 2017 vintage and disgorged in May 2021, the latest release of Pters’s NV Brut Blanc de Blancs Grand Cru Cuve de Rserve continues to show very nicely. Bursting with aromas of crisp orchard fruit, honeycomb, white flowers and fresh bread, it’s medium-bodied, pillowy and generous, with a refined mousse and an elegantly fleshy core of fruit. This is a fine-boned, weightless blanc de blancs that’s disarmingly easy to drink.
        • Decanter: Made up, half and half, of base wine from the sunny 2018 harvest, and reserve wine from Rodolphes Perpetual Reserve which goes back to 1988, this is one of the most consistently excellent NV wines on the market. Its current iteration is especially impressive, floral, chalky, upstanding, and very complex; the palate sharing notes of dried apricot, plum and lemon pith with more developed intimations of sour honey and patisserie. An exemplary wine with real purity and precision on the finish.

        Producer Information

Pierre Pters is a Champagne house in Le Mesnil-sur-Oger particularly known for its range of Blanc de Blancs Chardonnay wines. In the last decade or so the estate has risen quickly into the top flight, garnering attention from international critics. The Pters family has grown grapes on the Cte des Blancs for six generations, beginning in 1858 when Gaston Pters of Luxembourg married into a family of local growers. The wines were labeled Camille Pters from 1919 to 1944, when it was renamed for the new proprietor, Pierre Pters. To this day, the house remains family-owned and run. The wines are made exclusively from estate vineyards, which is unusual in the region. In total, Pierre Pters has just over 19 hectares (47 acres) of Chardonnay vines mainly located in the top communes of Le Mesnil-sur-Oger, Oger, Avize and Cramant. Les Chtillons is a highly regarded vineyard in Le Mesnil from which Pierre Pters makes a single-vineyard wine of the same name. Juice is fermented in small temperature-controlled steel vats and aged on its lees. The non-vintage flagship Cuve de Rserve features reserve wines from more than 15 different vintages of Grand Cru vineyard wines, while the Extra Brut is sourced from a single site. L’Esprit is the multi-vineyard vintage wine, while La Perle is bottled at lower pressure and is slightly less dry than the other wines. The ros is a blend of Chardonnay with ros de saigne (lightly-colored red juice run off from red fruit) to give a pale-hued, elegant style.
