Distillery Information
Yerevan Brandy is the principle producer of brandy in Armenia. The soviet era distiller is home to the ArArAt collection of brandies of which is named after the snow-capped Mount Ararat in the extreme east of Turkey. Many Armenians of the Christian faith believe that the dormant volcano is where Noah’s Ark remains anchored in the ice on the summit. Nerses Tairyan and his cousin Vasily Tairov established the ArArAt factory in 1887 with their collective distillation knowledge learnt in France. Twelve years later, the company was sold to the Russian company Shustov and Sons whom launched the company onto the international market. In 1902, the first vintage brandy of portfolio won the grand prix at the International Exhibition in Paris. Today, the Yerevan Brandy Company produces following core range. All brandies are double distilled with only the purest and most delicate portion of the second distillate retained.
